KTM 1290 Adventure - Remove and Install Seat

Removing and installing the seat on your KTM 1290 Adventure motorcycle is a relatively basic task, but is the starting point to a lot of maintenance tasks to perform on the bike. Below are the instructions on how to remove and install the seat on your KTM 1290 Adventure.

Remove the Seat

On the left side of the motorcycle, above the passenger foot peg, insert your key and turn counterclockwise.

While the key is turned, lift up on the rear of the seat. Once lifted, slide the entire seat towards the rear of the motorcycle.

Install the Seat

Underneath the front of the seat are lugs on both sides. These lugs need to line up and slide on to the posts on the back of the fuel tank.

Line the lugs up to the posts and slide the seat forward.

There is a locking post underneath the rear of the seat. With the front lugs and posts lined up pushed down on the rear of the seat to engage the locking post.

You should feel the rear of the seat lock into place. Lift on the rear of the seat to confirm it is locked into place. Confirm the front of the seat is also secured. If anything is loose, unlock the seat and realign. If everything is secure, you are good to go and cleared for takeoff.
